Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina found guilty in 'Crimes Against Humanity'

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in Bangladesh has sentenced the country's ousted former Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, to death after finding her guilty of 'Crimes Against Humanity.' The verdict stems from the violent suppression of the student-led protests (the 'July Uprising') in mid-2024, during which the court deemed her the 'mastermind' who incited and ordered the killings of civilian protesters. Currently living in exile in India, Hasina has dismissed the ruling as "biased and politically motivated" by the unelected interim government. Following the verdict, the interim government has intensified its demand to India for her extradition, escalating diplomatic tensions between the two nations over the sensitive political matter.
