Microsoft has announced its largest-ever investment in Asia, committing a massive $17.5 billion to accelerate India's digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem.
The announcement was made by Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella on December 9, 2025, following his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

Significantly expanding Microsoft's Hyperscale Data Center capacity across the country.
The new India South Central Cloud Region in Hyderabad is expected to go live by mid-2026, becoming Microsoft's largest hyperscale presence in India.
Skills (AI-Ready Workforce):
Doubling the company's commitment to skilling.
Targeting to train 20 million Indians in essential AI skills by 2030 (up from the earlier 10 million target).
Integrating AI into key government digital public platforms like e-Shram and the National Career Service (NCS) to benefit over 310 million informal workers.
Sovereignty (Data & Security):
Developing sovereign-ready solutions to ensure data security, trust, and national technology independence.
