The new SBI Card rules, effective from November 1, 2025, primarily introduce new fees for specific digital transactions.
💸 Increased Fees and New Charges
The following new fees are being introduced:
Wallet Load Fee: A 1% fee will be applicable on every wallet load transaction that exceeds ₹1,000.
This applies when using your SBI Card to add money to digital wallets like Paytm, PhonePe, Amazon Pay, etc.
Education Payment Fee (via Third-Party Apps): A 1% fee of the transaction amount will be charged for education-related payments (like school/college fees) made through third-party applications or aggregators (e.g., CRED, MobiKwik).
Exemption: Payments made directly to the institution (via their official website or on-campus POS machines) will not attract this fee.
💳 Other Existing Charges (Updated or Remaining Same)
While the focus is on the new 1% fees, other existing charges continue to apply:
| Charge Category | Details |
| Cash Payment Fee | ₹250 per transaction |
| Cheque Payment Fee | ₹200 |
| Payment Dishonour Fee | 2% of the payment amount (Minimum ₹500) |
| Cash Advance Fee | 2.5% of the transaction amount (Minimum ₹500) at domestic and international ATMs |
| Card Replacement Fee | ₹100 to ₹250 (₹1,500 for Aurum cards) |
💰 Late Payment Charges on Minimum Amount Due (MAD)
The late payment charges (LPC) are applied if the Minimum Amount Due (MAD) is not paid by the due date. The existing slab-based structure remains in effect:
| Outstanding Amount Due | Late Payment Charge (LPC) |
| ₹0 to ₹500 | Nil |
| > ₹500 to ₹1,000 | ₹400 |
| > ₹1,000 to ₹10,000 | ₹750 |
| > ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 | ₹950 |
| > ₹25,000 to ₹50,000 | ₹1,100 |
| > ₹50,000 | ₹1,300 |
You should be mindful of these changes, particularly the new 1% fees, to manage your credit card expenses effectively.
