Big Relief for FASTag Users-

The "Big Relief for FASTag Users! No More Service Suspension" news refers to the recent simplification of the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) verification process by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Here are the key points of the relief:

1. No Immediate FASTag Suspension for Incomplete KYV

  • The Big Change: As per the revised guidelines from the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), FASTag services will NOT be immediately discontinued or blocked for vehicles that have not yet complied with the KYV (Know Your Vehicle) verification process.

  • Sufficient Opportunity: Users will now be provided with ample time and opportunities to complete the KYV process without their tag being deactivated instantly at the toll plaza.

  • Existing Tags Remain Active: To ensure continuity of service, FASTags issued before the KYV policy will generally remain active unless there are complaints about the tag being loose or misused.

2. Simplified KYV Process

The required steps for vehicle verification have been made easier to reduce customer inconvenience:

  • Fewer Photos Required: You are no longer required to upload the side photos of your Car/Jeep/Van. Only a clear front picture showing the number plate and the FASTag is required to be uploaded.

  • Automatic Data Fetching: The system will now automatically fetch the RC (Registration Certificate) details from the Vahan database when the user enters the vehicle number, chassis number, or mobile number.

  • Bank Assistance: If a user faces difficulty uploading documents, the issuing bank is required to proactively contact the customer and assist in completing the KYV process before any service disconnection.

  • Helpline: Customers can also lodge complaints or raise queries on the National Highway Helpline Number 1033.

This move is intended to streamline the system, prevent service disruptions due to technical difficulties, and provide a smoother experience for FASTag users.
